When Youthanasia was first released in , I, like many other Megadeth fans, was quite disappointed with the new direction Dave was taking. I pretty much gave up on them. Until recently. I had the opportunity to see Megadeth a couple months ago on the Dystopia tour, and even tho there were some technical issues, they were totally badass/5().

Youthanasia is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Megadeth, released on November 1, through Capitol album is not a large stylistic departure from the band's earlier recordings; however it marked the continuing evolution of Megadeth, following the footsteps of the previous album Countdown to Extinction (). The album's title is a play on words, implying that Genre: Heavy metal.

Sure, “Youthanasia” is watered-down metal aimed at FM airplay, but Ellefson’s bass tone is stout for the entire recording, and combined with catchy, simple songs swimming in guitars like “The Killing Road” and “Family Tree”, it seems this is perhaps the best second-tier Megadeth album.
  7. Mitaur says:
Before Megadeth began slipping with "Risk," Dave Mustaine and crew recorded an album that launched a turning point in the band's career; that album was "Youthanasia." The main focus on "Countdown To Extinction" was the easier song structure, the lesser emphasis on .
